Lake Home Update: Building is Paused

While we truly had every intent to build this spring and summer, we sadly won’t be. With the increasing costs of materials, the cost to build has increased substantially over the last month and neither of us are comfortable building at this time. We worry that even if we could cover the current estimated costs (which we are unable to do), prices could continue to jump.

I promised that I would take you guys along with me on the journey of building and so I will! Sadly, for now, building is paused. Hopefully prices will go down and we can actually build this dream home soon! We have asked and will ask many of the places we got estimates from to keep the materials list on file (if they do that, if not we are printing and keeping them).

As soon as we are comfortable with costs and able to build, we will and you will hear about it! I have already written the basement layout post, so I will share that with you all. Just know that none of us will get to see it finished as early as we would like. I also know that we are not alone in wanting a house, but with the market how it is… are being forced to wait.

On a happier note, we will have more free time to work on some other projects and garden! The mice finally seem to be gone from our old camper so we are going to assess the damage soon to determine if we are able to fix it back up! Without a house out there, the camper has a purpose again! 🙂 I also have a few other garden-related ideas that I am working on which may or may not include me trying to decide if I want to buy a little greenhouse. And don’t forget the cut-flower garden addition this spring! So anyway, worry not… there will still be plenty of fun things to write and talk about this coming spring and summer! Thanks for being here!! 🙂
