I have talked about growing a cut garden many times before and I am finally deciding early enough in the growing season to do it! I just placed an order for seeds and my current plan is to build a few raised bed to grow them in. I am hoping to possibly even sell a few at the local farmer’s market! But… we will see how it goes.
I purchased the seeds from Johnny’s Selected Seeds. I have seen a lot of my favorite flower farmers talk about this site, so I’m hoping it was a good call! I am happy with their selection and prices! I can’t wait for them to arrive so I can start planning when to plant them indoors! For now, though, I figured I would share what all I purchased and am planning to plant with you.
Before I share, I should mention that I’d love to be a full time flower farmer, but living in Minnesota presents some challenges to this. Because of these challenges, I am working on some business ideas with my husband and how to start slow and build from there… hence the farmer’s market idea!
Okay, enough chit chat… Here is what I got! 🙂
- Zinnia
- Cosmos
- Eucalyptus
- Lisianthus
- Snapdragon
- Artemisia
- Gypsophila
- Dahlia
- Daucus
A few of these I had never heard of but the descriptions were great and they were obviously beautiful! I have successfully grown zinnia, cosmos, and snapdragon before and am really looking forward to learning more about growing the others!
I was on the site for quite awhile and had many more seeds in my cart but… start small. That’s something I’m not great at. My ideas tend to be BIG and I’m working on setting smaller goals to reach the big idea. So… here is my start. I will share more once they come in the mail and I can start planning and planting! Can’t wait!!!
