Summer Front Porch Design

I get super excited about decorating our entryway deck! It is the first thing that people see when they come over to our house, so I like it to look nice. We have a fairly small and narrow deck leading up to our front door, so it’s fairly simple to make a big statement with not too many decorative items.

In the summer, I love to decorate with a bunch of flowers! All of the flowers that I used here are annuals. I have four square pots, all of which are on the upper steps. Each of these has four petunia plants and snapdragons in the center.

Then I have two round, urn type planters in the front. These planters came from one of Caleb’s childhood houses! Its fun to use them here! I spray painted these and the square pots all the same color, which is metallic oil rubbed bronze. I thought they would look better together if they were all the same color!

The two round, front pots have vinca vine, which is the trailing vine-like leaves, and three petunia plants. I am loving the petunia and vinca vine combination! When we build someday I plan to use this combination in some window boxes! I love when plants spill over!

We also have a cream can from Caleb’s family’s farm! I have grown flowers in pots on top of this before, but there isn’t much sun and I didn’t like the look of a different type of plant growing up here when the rest all matched. I don’t mind it being it’s own piece of decor in the summer! We also have a wooden welcome sign that was painted by one of Caleb’s grandpas on the other side of the door! Ignore the dirt on the pots… we recently had quite a storm haha!!!

I use miracle grow for all of these planters once a week! I also water them every 2-3 days if it doesn’t rain because of how many plants are in each pot and because they are in the hot sun most of the day!

Like I said earlier, the front porch is fairly small, but I feel it makes quite the statement and welcomes people to our home! This is also a fun area to decorate for fall and Christmas! I’d like to say that I can’t wait to show you, but I want summer to stick around for quite some time yet 🙂
