1994 Hornet Camper Renovation: Floors

A few years ago, we purchased a 1994 Hornet pull behind camper. The previous owner worked on the road and lived in the camper while working. Everything worked great, but the style left something to be desired. There was old blue, stained carpet in the bedroom and two different kinds of linoleum in the living area and bathroom. We still have a lot to complete, but I wanted to share some of the progress with you! Unfortunately, because at the time I had no idea I would be starting a blog, I don’t have before pictures. Also, ignore the junk in some pictures… it was kind of chaotic for a little while. 🙂

I did some painting before the flooring was replaced, but the majority of the painting was done after and I will share more about that in a later post!

So, we originally thought the majority of the flooring was original, but when we went to remove it, we found more layers of linoleum! I was actually working while Caleb and his dad removed all the old flooring and laid our new stuff! It looks like it was quite a project! They had to sand the glue down. Luckily, there wasn’t any evidence of any rotting floor boards, which we were a little nervous about!

We went with a vinyl plank wood-look flooring. It’s waterproof, which was very important since it’s in a camper on the lake! The stuff we got was glue-down. We went with a lighter color because it’s a small space and lighter usually makes a space feel larger!

I am so happy with how it turned out! I’m also so happy to have the nasty and filthy blue carpet out of the bedroom. So much easier to clean and care for and so much more lake-place friendly! I love rugs though, so might have to add a few of those around!

In the bathroom, we went with stick down, inexpensive tiles in case we ever had water issues. They are easy to remove and replace. They don’t look the best, but they look much better than it used to look! I will share those when I finally finish the bathroom! :/ I’m not exactly looking forward to working in such a small area. haha!

I will share more soon! Follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook to see progress of the camper renovation as well as all sorts of other fun stuff! Once we open up for the year, I will share a tour of what we have done so far!
