Cut Flower Garden Seed Starting Schedule

My cut flower seeds recently arrived and will be starting to go into the dirt very soon! I am going to plant based off of an estimated “frost free” date of May 15th. I did a quick google search of my growing zone to determine this date. Living in Minnesota, this could easily be anywhere around that date, give or take 2 weeks.

I am referring to the “frost free” date as the date at which the risk of frost has passed in my area. I am in growing zone 3B, so it’s a pretty short season! I would highly recommend doing an internet search of your zone or area to determine when the risk of frost has passed in your area, and schedule your seed starting off of that date!

With the short growing season here, many of my seeds are started indoors months before they are ever transplanted outside. I have an LED grow light setup that I use to start seeds indoors. I am planning on expanding that this spring to accommodate the additional seeds for the cut garden!

I am very excited to get the seeding processes started earlier this year than in the past. This is the first year that I have actively started planning seed starting this early in the year! I blame you all for my organization because I want to make sure that I am able to get my plans out to you with enough time for you to plant the seeds around the same time if you so desire, or figure out when to plant based on your growing zones! So… thank you! 🙂
